President, Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Medical Center Plano
I initially got involved in the Auxiliary through a friend. But every year, it’s easy to see the impact of the work we’re doing on the patients and families at Children’s Health, and that makes it easy to want to come back and do more each year.
This season will be our 13th year for the Plano chapter to hang wreaths throughout the hospital. We’ve been doing it since the hospital opened in Collin County.
The wreaths brighten the day for anyone walking down the hallways, whether they’re kids, parents or team members. It’s hard to look at the wreaths and not smile.
Many of the wreaths have different themes, such as dinosaurs, princesses and even Texas Rangers. Our Auxiliary members not only make all the wreaths to bring cheer to our patients and families in the hospital, but we also bring magic with our festive crafts during the Children’s Health Tree Lighting and through our winter wonderland at our annual Santa’s Workshop.
I’m a physical therapist and spent time in the beginning of my career treating kids. I know it’s a tough job, and I hope our special holiday touches and traditions bring smiles and joy to families and team members in the hospital during the season.
